Akan tetapi, penggunaan gula berlebih bisa meningkatkan risiko terkena penyakit berbahaya seperti, diabetes.

Untuk itu diciptakanlah gula pengganti yang memiliki rasa hampir sama dan lebih sehat, seperti sakarin, stevia, dan alulosa.

Dilansir dari Mejorconsauld, alulosa merupakan varian pengganti gula yang baru dikembangkan untuk industri makanan.

Alulosa diklaim tidak mengandung kalori dan memiliki rasa yang mirip dengan gula, karena alasan tersebut, produk ini disebut gula sehat.

Alulosa dapat ditemukan di alam melalui makanan seperi buah ara, bisa juga dibuat dari tepung jagung.

Tidak seperti sakarin dan stevia, rasa alulosa bisa tetap manis meski dalam temperatur tinggi.

Berikut ini adalah manfaat penggunaan alulosa bagi tubuh.

1. Tidak meningkatkan level insulin

Penggunaan alulosa sangat cocok bagi penderita penyakit gula, seperti diabetes.

Tubuh memang akan menyerap alulosa, tetapi tidak memetabolismenya, sehingga aman bagi penderita diabetes.

Hal ini disebabkan karena alulosa hanya memberikan rasa manis dan tekstur yang sama dengan gula.

2. Mengatasi maslah berat badan

Kadar gula tinggi diidentikkan dengan obesitas, atau kelebihan berat badan.

Untuk itu pembatasan gula sangat diperlukan, dan penggunaan alulosa bisa menjadi alternatif.

Hal ini disebabkan karena alulosa hampir tidak mengandung kalori, sehinga cocok bagi mereka yang ingin mengatur berat badan.

Akibat penggunaan berlebihan

Meski memiliki manfaat ada hal-hal yang harus diperhatikan terkait penggunaan alulosa.

Alulosa tidak mengandung gula tetapi mengandung lemak yang melimpah.

Bagi orang yang menderita sindrom iritasi, juga harus berhati-hati dalam penggunaan alulosa.

Karena tak terserap dalam proses metabolisme tubuh, alulosa akan menumpuk sementara di dalam tubuh hingga dikeluarkan.

Penggunaan berlebihan dapat menyebabkan gangguan kepada bakteri baik yang ada di usus.
