Mitos atau Fakta, Produk Organik Lebih Menyehatkan?

SKOR.id - Tren mengonsumsi produk organik mulai meningkat akhir-akhir ini karena berbagai alasan.

Berbicara mengenai produk organik tentu tidak jauh dari hasil pertanian yang dirawat hingga dipanen secara alamiah dengan pestisida yang minimal.

Dalam regulasi Uni Eropa, seperti dilansir dari BBC Good Food, setidaknya ada enam syarat sebuah produk pertanian dan peternakan masuk dalam kategori organik, yakni:

  1. Penggunaan pestisida alami secara terbatas.
  2. Tidak ada modifikasi genetika dalam prosesnya.
  3. Tidak menggunakan antibiotik secara rutin.
  4. Tidak menggunakan hormon untuk stimulan pertumbuhan.
  5. Tidak ada tambahan pewarna atau bahan pengawet buatan.
  6. Ternak digembalakan secara bebas.

Dengan regulasi yang ketat tersebut tak heran jika produk organik lebih mahal daripada konvensional di pasaran.

Dengan demikian, apakah produk organik serta merta lebih menyehatkan daripada konvensional?

Perbedaan mendasar antara produk organik dan nonorganik adalah proses produksi, serta level pestisida, antibiotik, dan hormon yang digunakan.

Sejumlah penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produk organik memiliki residu pestisida lebih sedikit serta mikronutrien yang lebih banyak ketimbang hasil pertanian konvensional.

Kandungan vitamin C, zat besi, magnesium, fosfor, dan antosianin dalam produk organik diklaim lebih banyak.

Beberapa penelitian juga menyebut bahwa produk organik mengurangi risiko alergi, obesitas, hingga kesehatan kulit.

Produk organik juga baik untuk menjaga kelestarian lingkungan, keanekaragaman hayati, dan kelangsungan masa depan karena minim pestisida berbahaya.

Meskipun demikian, produk organik tidak serta menjamin bahwa Anda lebih bugar karena selain makanan faktor lingkungan juga mempengaruhi kesehatan.

Masih ada faktor lain seperti paparan bahan kimia dari lingkungan tempat tinggal, produk pembersih yang digunakan, atau parasit dari hewan peliharaan juga mempengaruhi kesehatan.

Mengonsumsi produk konvensional pun tetap memiliki manfaat yang baik untuk tubuh asalkan mengolahkanya dengan baik dan benar.

Buah, sayuran, biji-bijian, kacang, dan telur semuanya memiliki manfaat yang baik untuk tubuh baik yang merupakan produk organik maupun tidak.
