Ada berbagai macam roti di luar untuk dipilih, tetapi dua jenis yang paling umum adalah roti putih dan roti gandum utuh. 

Meskipun keduanya terbuat dari biji-bijian, ada perbedaan kesehatan utama antara kedua jenis roti tersebut karena cara pembuatannya. 

Proses dan bahan pembuatan

Roti gandum utuh pada dasarnya terbuat dari gandum lengkap dengan dedak, kuman, dan endosperma yang menyertainya.

Namun hal ini justru membuat roti bisa mempertahankan lemak sehat, vitamin, mineral, dan serat. 

Sementara itu, roti putih terbuat dari tepung halus, yang melalui proses penggilingan untuk menghilangkan dedak dan kuman.

Menurut ahli diet terdaftar di The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, ketika melewati proses ini, banyak nutrisi bermanfaat yang dikeluarkan dari tepung. 

Hanya endosperma dari tepung yang tersisa setelah proses ini dan itu rendah gizi.

Mana yang lebih sehat?

Roti gandum utuh umumnya merupakan pilihan yang lebih sehat daripada roti putih.

Meskipun mungkin pada beberapa kasus ada orang yang ingin mengonsumsi roti dengan jumlah serat yang lebih rendah.

Namun untuk kandungan kalori, roti gandum biasanya memiliki lebih sedikit kalori daripada roti putih.

Ini bisa bermanfaat jika Anda membatasi kalori dan ingin menurunkan beberapa kilogram atau mengelola berat badan Anda dengan lebih baik.
