Jorge Lorenzo: Aerodinamika MotoGP Perlu Dibatasi demi Keselamatan Pembalap

SKOR.id – MotoGP 2023 dipenuhi kecelakaan dan cedera yang dialami para pembalap. Dengan format baru sprint race diperkenalkan musim ini, itu justru membuat insiden makin meningkatkan kekacauan.

Namun, pembalap legendaris MotoGP Jorge Lorenzo juga melihat ada faktor lain sebagai penyebab, yakni isu aerodinamika. Menurutnya, motor sekarang sangat mengerikan, dalam segi kecepatan.

“Saya sprint tetapi saya berbicara sebagai penonton. Saya mengerti para pembalap, kini risikonya berlipat ganda atau tiga kali lipat. Motornya kuat dengan aerodinamika. Saya (jadi) khawatir dengan kondisi para rider,” ujar Lorenzo seperti dikutip dari GPOne.

“Kita sampai pada titik di mana motor MotoGP benar-benar menakutkan. Mereka punya 300 dk dan bisa melaju lebih dari 370 km/jam. Jika tidak (disetop), dalam beberapa tahun itu akan mencapai 400 km/jam.”

“Saya pikir sekarang kita harus membatasi kekuatan motor ini dengan cara tertentu. Saya akan membatasi aerodinamika semaksimal mungkin, bahkan menghilangkannya,” juara dunia tiga kali kelas MotoGP tersebut menambahkan.

Alasan bahwa pengembangan motor dan aerodinamika dilakukan demi memperkecil gap antarpembalap tidak sepenuhnya negatif bagi Jorge Lorenzo. Namun, tetap harus ada batasan demi keselamatan rider. Ini harus menjadi pertimbangan utama.   

“Saya melihat secara positif fakta bahwa sekarang ada lebih banyak pertarungan (berkat pengembangan motor). Tetapi saya pikir akan lebih banyak lagi tanpa aerodinamika. Itu bisa jadi olahraga yang lebih spektakuler tanpa aerodinamika,” ucap pria Spanyol. 

Pernyataan serupa juga dilontarkan oleh legenda MotoGP lainnya, Casey Stoner, baru-baru ini. Eks rider Ducati dan Honda itu menilai kejuaraan perlu mengambil perspektif pembalap, yang mana hal tersebut tidak dilakukan.

“Anda harus mengambil perspektif pabrikan, tetapi apa yang tidak mereka lakukan saat ini adalah melihat perspektif para pembalap. Balapannya, bahayanya, makin banyak kecelakaan yang kita lihat akhir-akhir ini. Itu konyol,” kata Stoner. 

“(Bagi saya), winglet, coret. Ride height device, coret. Anti-wheelie, coret. Kontrol traksi dipotong ke level yang aman dan tidak lebih. Setengah dari omong kosong (aerodinamika) ini harus dihilangkan,” imbuh juara dunia asal Australia.
