Tren ini ditunjang dengan semakin menjamurnya jajanan kaki lima yang menjual aneka makanan pedas yang mengunggah selera.

Namun tahukah Anda, terlalu banyak mengonsumsi makanan pedas ternyata sangat buruk efeknya buat pencernaan.

Dilansir dari Healthline, berikut ini adalah tiga risiko pencernaan yang mungkin mengancam seseorang yang hobi mengonsumsi makanan pedas:

1. Risiko terkena GERD akut

Makanan pedas dapat meningkatkan risiko GERD atau Penyakit Refluks Gastroesofageal. 

GERD adalah suatu kondisi yang meningkatkan asam lambung atau empedu yang dapat mengiritasi lapisan saluran makanan.

Bagi yang sudah memiliki gejala GERD, sangat perlu dihindari makan makanan pedas. 

Ini karena asam lambung bisa melonjak naik ke kerongkongan dan menyebabkan rasa sakit dan panas meremas di dada.

2. Diare

Penyebab diare bermacam-macam. Salah satunya adalah makan makanan yang terlalu pedas. 

Jika Anda tidak terbiasa makan makanan pedas, toleransi Anda terhadap cabai sangat lemah. Efek capcaisin pada cabai memicu buang air besar lebih cepat dan mengalami diare.

3. Memicu gastritis akut

Makanan pedas dapat memicu reaksi saraf tertentu dan menimbulkan rasa sakit akibat peradangan pada mukosa lambung. 

Gastritis akut ditandai dengan mual, sakit perut, muntah, dan nafsu makan menurun.
