Ratu Elizabeth II meninggal di usia 96 tahun. Sebelumnya diberitakan bahwa ada kekhawatiran terkait kesehatannya.
Sebuah pernyataan atas nama Keluarga Kerajaan berbunyi: "Sang Ratu meninggal dengan tenang di Balmoral sore ini.
"Raja dan Permaisuri akan tetap berada di Balmoral malam ini dan akan kembali ke London besok," lanjut pernyataan tersebut.
Ratu merayakan Platinum Jubilee-nya awal tahun ini, menandai 70 tahun takhta.
Ratu pernah menyerahkan trofi Jules Rimet ke Bobby Moore setelah Inggris menang 4-2 atas Jerman Barat di final Piala Dunia 1966 di Wembley.
Klub-klub Inggris memberikan penghormatan kepada Ratu di media sosial.
