Makanan Ultra-Olahan Meningkatkan Risiko Kkanker, Menurut Sebuah Penelitian

SKOR.id - Sebuah tim yang dipimpin oleh para peneliti dari universitas Amerika di Tufts dan Harvard telah mendeteksi hubungan antara konsumsi tinggi makanan ultra-olahan dan peningkatan risiko kanker kolorektal pada pria.

Dalam satu penelitian yang diterbitkan dalam British Medical Journal ('The BMJ'), para ilmuwan telah menemukan bahwa pria yang mengkonsumsi makanan ultra-olahan tingkat tinggi memiliki risiko 29% lebih tinggi terkena kanker kolorektal - kanker usus besar - dibandingkan pria yang makan lebih sedikit.

Studi ini telah menganalisis tanggapan lebih dari 200.000 peserta - terdiri dari 159.907 wanita dan 46.341 pria - dalam tiga studi prospektif besar yang mengevaluasi asupan makanan dan dilakukan selama lebih dari 25 tahun.

Daging, unggas atau produk ikan
Para peneliti juga telah menyimpulkan bahwa hubungan terkuat antara kanker kolorektal dan makanan ultra-olahan di kalangan pria dari daging, unggas, ataupun produk ikan siap saji.

Di sisi lain, tim ilmuwan juga mengamati bahwa konsumsi tinggi dari minuman manis, seperti minuman ringan, minuman berbasis buah, dan minuman manis berbasis susu, dikaitkan dengan peningkatan risiko kanker kolorektal pada laki-laki. .

Asosiasi yang sama belum ditemukan pada wanita
Namun, kasus perempuan berbeda.

Dari 159.907 wanita yang telah dipantau, tim peneliti telah mendokumentasikan 1.922 kasus kanker kolorektal. Pada pria, 1.294 kasus telah tercatat di antara 46.341 peserta dalam penelitian ini.

Hasil ini mungkin karena fakta bahwa analisis telah mengungkapkan perbedaan dalam bentuk konsumsi makanan ultra-olahan oleh pria dan wanita dan kemungkinan risiko kanker terkait.

Sejalan dengan ini, salah satu rekan penulis penelitian, Fang Zhang, telah menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi makanan seperti yogurt dapat "menangkal efek berbahaya" dari jenis makanan ultra-olahan lainnya dalam kasus wanita.***
