Dophamine diet adalah salah satu metode yang mencoba untuk menyangkal paradigma tersebut.

Dilansir dari BBC Good Food, dophamine diet adalah upaya meningkatkan hormon bahagia alias dopamin dalam otak sekaligus menurunkan berat badan.

Tren diet jenis ini dipopulerkan oleh chef atau juru masak asal Inggris Raya, Tom Kerridge.

Prinsip utama dalam dophamine diet adalah meningkatkan konsumsi protein yang kaya asam amino untuk memproduksi dopamin tanpa menambah nafsu makan.

Trik yang bisa digunakan untuk mewujudkan diet ini adalah dengan sarapan makanan berprotein tinggi, seperti telur, daging tanpa lemak, dan susu.

Ketiga jenis makanan tersebut dapat meningkatkan kadar hormon bahagia sambil mengurangi nafsu untuk makan berlebih di pagi hari.

Ahli diet Emer Delaney kepada BBC Good Food memberikan tujuh kiat sukses dophamine diet:

1. Makan teratur. Pola makan yang teratur akan mencegah perubahan hormon secara tiba-tiba terutama nafsu makan di malam hari.

2. Konsumsi protein tanpa lemak saat sarapan dan makan siang. Seperti telur, salmon, ikan mackerel, yogurt, serta kacang-kacangan, dan buah.

3. Konsumsi karbohidrat rendah GI (indeks ukur kenaikan gula darah). Seperti roti gandum atau bubur.

4. Pilih lemak sehat, bukan lemak jenuh. Antara lain minyak zaitun, lobak, kenari, atau tuna segar.

5. Yoga. Aktivitas fisik seperti yoga dapat meningkatkan kadar hormon bahagia dalam tubuh.

6. Kurangi makanan asin olahan dan batasi makanan manis.

7. Lebih sering makan tetapi dengan porsi kecil, yakni lima kali sehari.
