Sebagai pemain sepakbola, menjaga penampilan terbaik di lapangan wajib di lakukan demi memberikan hasil positif kepada tim. Untuk menunjang performa, bukan sekadar latihan keras, tapi juga menjaga pola makan supaya tetap bugar.

Pemain 31 tahun ini menjadi teror lini belakang Liga Inggris sejak didatangkan ke Etihad Stadium dari Atletico Madrid pada 2011. Aguero telah melesakkan 254 gol dalam 368 pertandingan untuk the Citizens.

Namun, Aguero mengungkapkan, pola dietnya sempat gagal. Makan steak dan aneka barbeku justru membuat berat badannya bertambah dan menyebabkan Aguero sering merasa pusing saat pertandingan.

"Saya pikir sejak 2013 sampai 2016 saya tidak dapat beradaptasi dengan baik dengan makanan. Dari sana saya bertemu dokter Italia, dan ia sedikit mengubah pikiran saya," jelas Aguero, dikutip Daily Mail.

"Saya mengatakan apa yang biasa saya makan, saya banyak makan daging, dan ia bilang saya harus mencoba memakannya hanya sekali sepekan. Ia mengatakan ketika saya merasa sangat lapar saya harus makan nasi dan ayam, dan sekarang saya penggemar berat nasi.

"Dalam sepakbola, meski cuma naik setengah kilo, Anda merasakan perbedaannya. Ini luar biasa."

Masa depan Aguero diragukan menyusul kedatangan Pep Guardiola. Kabarnya, pelatih asal Spanyol ini merasa Aguero tidak cocok dengan gaya sepakbolanya dan mantan striker Atletico itu tak mampu memenuhi tuntutan kondisi fisik.

Saat tiba di City, Guardiola menerapkan program diet sangat ketat. Ia melarang pizza dan chip di kamp pelatihan. Regulasi ini pula yang membantu Aguero menurunkan berat badan.

"Pada 2016 dan 2017 ada beberapa pertandingan saya merasa buruk. Saya mulai sedikit pusing. Banyak yang mengatakan itu karena terlalu banyak pil, anti-inflammatori dan vitamin. Dalam sepakbola, ada banyak hal untuk (membantu Anda) pulih secepatnya," Aguero menambahkan. 

"Saya pikir ini karena berat badan saya. Berat saya dulu 81 atau 81,3 kg. Biasanya saya 79,5 atau 80 kg. Sekarang saya 79,5. Saat di Atletico Madrid berat saya 77 kg, jadi dalam 13 tahun saya bertambah dua kilo."
